Developed REST API for a leading hospital's speech therapy app using Express.js, MongoDB, AWS EC2, Lambda, ensuring secure, scalable access for clinical data.

Mission
Built a robust application programming interface (API) to power a speech therapy research application for the Manipal research team. The objective was to enable researchers and clinicians to securely collect, store, and retrieve speech data, therapy tasks, and patient progress using a scalable, cloud-based backend. Key priorities included supporting data privacy, interoperability, and ease of integration with various research and clinical tools.

Challenge
Needed to deliver a scalable, efficient backend capable of securely storing voice samples and therapy metadata while supporting real-time data retrieval for research teams. The solution leveraged Express.js for route handling, MongoDB for flexible document storage, and AWS EC2 for reliable deployments. AWS Lambda was integrated for event-driven processing—enabling features such as automatic analysis of submitted voice files or asynchronous notifications. Ensured the entire stack was HIPAA/GDPR aware, with role-based access, secure authentication, and seamless scaling.

Goal
Empowered researchers and clinicians at Manipal to accelerate speech therapy research and clinical care through a robust, user-friendly API. The backend eliminated data silos, automated reporting tasks, and enabled real-time analytics to support evidence-based interventions, improving outcomes for research participants and patients
